Brian Johns

Modern Arnis Coach

Brian Johns brings over 35 years of martial arts expertise to his students, with extensive training in Kung Fu, Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do, Vee Jiu-Jitsu, Kenpo Karate, and Modern Arnis. Welcoming students from Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and Oshawa, Brian has dedicated the last 15 years to teaching Modern Arnis and self-defence.

Brian possesses vast knowledge in Modern Arnis and is known for his patience as an instructor. He focuses on teaching the essential building blocks to help his students become highly skilled martial artists. Passionate about empowering individuals to overcome barriers, obstacles, and insecurities, Brian has shared his knowledge and skills in various settings. He has taught women’s self-defence at UOIT/Durham College in Oshawa and provided self-defence courses for developmentally delayed adults at the Abilities Centre in Whitby.

Brian’s Modern Arnis classes stand out for being fun, safe, and unique, offering students the opportunity to master the art of going with the flow in any self-defence situation. With a philosophy that nothing is more fun than playing with sticks and knives, Brian ensures an engaging and educational experience for all his students.

Ivy

Beginner Aerial Circus Instructor

Ivy is a dynamic and serene individual whose journey at the ABS Training Center is nothing short of inspirational. Having embarked on her training just a few years ago, she has swiftly risen to become one of the most promising talents in the aerial arts community. Her dedication and enthusiasm are evident in her every move, as she effortlessly blends grace and strength in her performances. From the moment Ivy first encountered aerial silks, she was captivated. The art form’s combination of athleticism and elegance resonated deeply with her, igniting a passion that has only grown stronger over time.

Under the expert guidance of Coach Rosh, Ivy’s skills have flourished at an impressive pace. Coach Rosh’s mentorship has been instrumental in honing Ivy’s abilities, helping her to achieve remarkable feats that set her apart from her peers. Her rapid development in aerial silks showcases her commitment and the exceptional talent she possesses. In addition to aerial silks, Ivy has a keen interest in flips and tricks, always eager to push the boundaries of what she can achieve. Strength training and flexibility are also central to Ivy’s routine, ensuring she maintains the physical prowess needed to excel in her chosen disciplines.

Beyond her personal achievements, Ivy’s natural talent for coaching has become increasingly apparent. At ABS Training Center, she plays a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of aerial artists through the Tots Aerial Circus program. Working with children aged 4-8, Ivy brings her passion and expertise to her coaching, creating a fun and supportive environment where young learners can thrive. She expertly implements the ABS aerial circus fundamentals, ensuring that even the youngest participants develop a solid foundation in aerial arts. Ivy’s serene demeanor and patient approach make her a beloved coach among her students.

Ivy’s journey is a testament to what can be achieved through hard work, expert guidance, and an unwavering love for the art. As she continues to excel in her own training and coaching endeavors, she embodies the spirit of dedication and passion that defines the ABS Training Center. Lee Pham

Breakdance Instructor

Lee “Lethal” Pham is an Artist and Producer. Known in the b-boy community as Lethal, he is a fifth generation member of world-renowned b-boy crew Supernaturalz. He was also a part of Toronto-based contemporary company The Chimera Project. He has proudly represented Canada on television and stages across the world. He passionately teaches breakin’ and is determined to positively engage communities at a global level. As a producer he works in the film, event, and entertainment industry.

Kate Shkinova

House Dance Instructor

Kate Shkinova began dancing at the age of 11 in Cherkasy, Ukraine. Moving to Toronto, she connected and now trains with notable street dancers such as Matthew “Knoxander” Walker and Raoul Wilke. She actively expands her hip hop and house vocabulary and is known for her intense training mentality, complex concepts, unique style, and flow. She continues to rep in battle and cyphers and has made a name for herself in the street all-style dance community.
